How to Become a Train Ticket Master?

The German railway company, Deutsche Bahn, provides several offers for group travelling in Bayern - perfect for the Hiking Buddies! To make it clear, here is an overview of the different tickets you will most likely have to use one day.

Bayern Ticket

Most common ticket, valid for the whole Bayern region, for trains and busses.

Validity: 1 to 5 persons, after 9 am during the weekdays, and before 9 am during the weekend.

Price: 23€ for 1 person, +5€ per person.

Scope: Bayern region, every RB train and bus.

Werdenfels Ticket

Cheaper than the Bayern ticket. The Werdenfels region is the area around Garmisch Partenkirchen.

Validity: 1 to 5 persons, at any time of the day, even during the weekdays.

Price: 19€ for 1 person, +4€ per person.

Scope: RB trains from Munich to Garmisch / Mittenwald / Kochel / Reutte in Tirol and every station on those lines.

Bayerische Oberlandbahn Ticket ("BOB Ticket")

Validity: 5 persons, after 9 am during the weekdays, and before 9 am during the weekend.

Price: 31€.

Scope: From Munich to Bayrischzell / Lenggries / Tegernsee and every station on those lines.

Meridian Ticket

Validity: 1 to 5 persons, after 9 am during the weekdays, and before 9 am during the weekend.

Price: 21€ for 1 person, +5€ per person.

Scope: From Munich to Kufstein, and every station on this line.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

- You would need a Bayern Ticket to go to Neuschwandstein Castle (RB train to Füssen, and then a bus to the castle, covered by the Bayern ticket).

- The Zugspitzbahn from Garmisch to the Eibsee station is convered ONLY by the Bayern Ticket. After Eibsee, you would need a special ticket.
